Antique German Postcard 3 dimensional Church A Merry Christmas

This is a wonderful example of the heavy felted 3 dimensional embossed postcards out of Germany made at the trun of the 19th to 20th centuries. The texture is sort of felted, and there is an almost misty effect to the vignette, bells and holly. The card was used at Christmas 1900-1905. The postcard was addressed to Mrs. R. Lindy, Sparta, Michigan and is signed Frances.

I can't help thinking about the folks who signed the greetings and sent their love. Were they hopeful for the future? Surrounded by friends and family? A wonderful feeling of connection with those who went before. I am reminded of Hebrews 12:1, about being surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.

We have been having pouring rain again but it is to finish tonight and be showery for the rest of the week....even snow showers possible for Friday. Hope you are warm and dry where you are. We caught the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol  last night which we enjoyed. I don't think we can see too many versions of it! Maybe there will be a great special on tonight!
