Tuesday Cuppa Tea - Sun Rain And Pecan Pie Muffins

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea! I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. I'm a bit late....or as Charles Dicken's Bob Crachit said to Scrooge at the end of A Christmas Carol, I am "behind my times, I was rather making merry" as the last few days have been busy with calls, texts and computers planning a family reunion the kids decided on last week for next month.  Can't wait! But...te post was a bit delayed...

While some of you were facing a hot weekend, I know the East Coast had to deal with Hurricane Arthur.  We had our usual coastal weather, with rain during part of the 4th of July Parade...but, hey! We're used to that!

My teacup this week is by Royal Grafton, England in a luscious fruit design, that looks so real it's amazing!

Grafton and Royal Grafton, among several other names, were trade names of A. B. Jones in Longton, Staffordshire...named for the Grafton Works the pottery used from 1900 until it closed among the many closures in 1972.  They were known for superb workmanship and quality during the years.  You notice the teacup also has sponged gold trim, which I mentioned in a previous post is a sign of the quality and time that went into quality china.

This pattern is pattern number 844, and dates the bone china teacup to 1957-1961. I just love the sunny yellow color as well. A favorite! For more info on the teacup at Antiques And Teacups, click on the photos.

Also, around our house this past few weeks, soccer has dominated with the World Cup in Brazil, which has given our cat Tinker much more than usual day time lap time on my honey's lap. Tinker loves it!  But, as my husband has Parkinson's Disease, he finally had to turf the cat off and turn off the TV during the USA quarterfinal game, because his tremor was so bad because of the excitement he couldn't watch it any longer. The PD is affected by any kind of stressor...be it excitement, distress, hot, cold, hunger, emotions, you name it! But the World Cup is over next Saturday, then back to normal!

So in between texts and phone calls from the kids about the reunion and football games, I baked something for tea from a recipe I found on Pinterest...and they did not disappoint...

The Pecan Pie Muffins were simple, delicious, and if you like pecans and pecan pie...fabulous!  There is very little else in them. I found a recipe later with only 1 cup of pecans instead of 2, but I had them & we like nuts, so...they aren't lo cal, and I substituted vegan margarine, but they were delicious!

By the way, the plate is Noritake Ravenna from 1940...my parent's wedding china which my sister and I subsequently inherited as split sets...

The mix goes together quickly...just make sure to grease the muffin tin...it makes 12 which isn't mentioned in the recipe...

They are disappearing quickly! A good and easy recipe!

I wanted to mention that it's my Christmas In July sale at Antiques And Teacups and Antiques And Teacups At Etsy with coupon code CIJ! You can also check out the shop tabs at the top of the blog page.

So thanks for joining me for Tuesday Cuppa Tea! Below is the linky for your tea related post, but PLEASE BE PATIENT as it is SLOW sometimes...but it will appear! Have a wonderful week...and enjoy the last week of the World Cup...my honey will!

  1. No teacup to share this week Ruth unless we count the Dublin Hilton plain white one but I do like the Royal Grafton fruity laden one you've shared. The muffins look yummy and likely way less calories than a piece of my favourite pecan pie.
Tinker and hubby look happy posing together.

  6. Hello Ruth,
I am having a lot of computer issues today thanks to Arthur that paid us a visit on the weekend. This is my fifth attempt to leave a comment. Hope it goes through. Your teacup is lovely and oh my, those pecan muffins look delicious. My family doesn't care for nuts in their food unfortunately. I too am having a family reunion beginning next week and I'm so excited!! Thanks for hosting and joining me for tea.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
