Tuesday Cuppa Tea - Not so good here

Hi there. Not really a normal Tuesday Cuppa Tea this week...a difficult week. First:  Did you change your clocks? One hour back last night....

Teacup wall clock photo from Cottage Journal magazine...

I know I mentioned that our cat Tinker was not well...well at the first of the week he suffered heart failure, a blood clot and paralysis and we lost him.

Tinker was a comfort cat for my husband with his Parkinson's Disease, and spent a lot of time on his lap...especially as my husband loves watching English soccer. So this has been an incredible grief to him especially. We were blessed to have him for 8 years. He was a rescue cat with a lot of problems from a traumatized kittenhood...he trusted no one but us...no one ever saw him but us...but he was a loving, playful cat with us, and we miss him so much!

And not so good news with the results of my husband's tests...so we are still trying to sort through that on top of the loss of our dear companion, hence an abbreviated post.

Just before things got really tough...for something to do, and needing some comfort food...I made Pamela's Gluten Free Chocolate Cookies from a mix I had picked up from our local store which were really delicious!

There were lots of dark chocolate chunks in the mix, so, as you were directed to make them in a stand mixer, some of the chocolate was incorporated into the batter itself which is why the batter is a bit dark. I added pecans because we always like nuts, and they were perfect with our tea.

Hopefully we will be back to a bit more of a normal keel next week. Thanks for bearing with me...one always wonders if one shoud be honest about the difficulties of life when blogs are often just about the happy and beautiful...but it's life in the reality.   No linky this week....

But...a reminder that November 5th is Guy Fawkes Day in England...if you want to know more about that, here is a link to a previous post I did about that:

  7. So sorry to hear about your beloved cat and your husband's health. Homemade cookies can't fix things, but you're right, they can provide some comfort with a hot cup of tea. I have tried Pamela's for my GF friends, and they are pretty good.
My blog post today is pretty real, not all roses and rainbows. That's life, and your blog friends want to remember you in prayer. (which I will) Love, Deborah

  10. Ruth, I think all of us "regulars" here at Antiques and Teacups are glad you shared your week with us. I'm so sorry about Tinker. And about your husband's setback. Our cat spends many hours in our laps and is a comfort especially at difficult times. What a terrible loss for you both.
