Tuesday Cuppa Tea, Shelley Teacup and Man Tea for Father's Day

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

It's been another doctor's office week...this time for me. Found out I have a minor heart "branch blockage", but not considered for surgery yet...but I have to further drop cholesterol...and I am low already. Oh well. Also eye surgeon's office...they thought I had a torn retina but it was another anomaly that healed itself ater 4 days...no surgery needed there and still have my 20/15  vision so was much relieved. Spent a LOT of time in waiting and treatment rooms, and waiting for my eyes to un-dilate. If it's not one thing, it's something else! Lol!

I spent time in the sunroom looking at some of my tea time recipe books, trying to guage what I can still make that is basically no cholesterol...figuring out what substitutions I can make...after a lifetime of recipes and cooking, this is gonna be a challenge!

So to brighten up the day, now that I can focus again, I got out a wonderful Shelley China England teacup to keep me company. This one is in the Footed Oleander shape, white molded petals, and is one of my favorite Shelley shapes, and was a staple of Shelley between 1941 and when the pottery closed in 1966. So tactile!

The pattern is a variation of Rose Pansy and Forget-Me-Not, which is really a chintz.  Note the sweet little blue scroll rim border inside the cup. The set also has gorgeous burnished gold handle, foot and rims.

The pattern number is 13528, and was actually made in several different colors. The number after the / refers to the color.
If anything could make me smile, this teacup did!

This coming Sunday, June 17th is Father's Day, so I found an antique postcard to share....

Also...Just had to share this email from 2013 from our favorite hotel in Victoria, BC, the Hotel Grand Pacific...our closest big city...advertising it's Father's Day  take on afternoon tea...

So thanks for joining me for tea today. I will be back to visiting everyone this week...Lord willing...and am hoping for a more calm and less stressful week....

This helped a lot this week too!

  2. Dear Ruth,
So glad you're not needing surgery! I think I know how you feel because I've been spending hours in the doctor's office as well as well as physio. I'm rather weary of it all to be honest. It does seem to be one thing after another these days. Anyway, enough of that. Your Shelley teacup is a beauty; soft and pretty for your tea time. Wishing you a lovely and healthy week, my friend. Take care and the Lord bless you!

  7. Ruth, what a beautiful post! AND another pattern I've never seen! I don't like to give unsolicited medical advice, but when I read "heart branch blockage," I immediately thought "Vitamin K2 (MK7)." It prevents and reverses calcification of arteries (and other soft tissues) and directs calcium to bones and teeth.
