Abdicated King Edward VIII Tin

https://www.antiquesandteacups.com/search?type=product&q=edward+VIII
He was certainly the heart throb of a generation in the 1930s in England. Sort of the Prince William of the time. This is a tin I have just added to Antiques And Teacups
with a picture from a painting by Bertram Park of the then Prince Of Wales in some sort of a Scottish tartan regimental uniform that I haven't been able to identify.
Although he succeeded to the throne in 1936 on the death of his father, King George V, Edward VIII was never crowned king. The invitations, posters, flags and commemorative china was ordered and distributed, but Edward VIII abdicated the throne to mary his mistress Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee and created the scandal of the era. His younger brother was crowned King George VI in his stead.
A much more stable, simple and conscientous man, George VI ended up being the perfect man to lead England through the horrendous World War II. With his welll beloved and spunky wife Elizabeth who later became known as the Queen Mum, the royal couple were a great morale booster for a heavily bomber nation. With their children Elizabeth and Margaret they were a great strength to their people. Elizabeth was crowned Queen Elizabeth II after her father's death in 1953.
So the tin is a great piece of British Royal memorabilia and English history. Cool!!! Here is a clickable link for more information at Antiques And Teacups:
