Tuesday Cuppa Tea, Getting Back Up To Speed, Memorial Day

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea! Am back, getting up to speed, as my Honey is recovering from an infection...thanks to antibiotics. There seems to be a light at the end of that tunnel! WooHoo!

I am sure many of you watched the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last weekend, and some of you might remember I had planned to go to a Royal Wedding tea...we had reservations at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria BC for that, but instead had to cancel as my Honey had the infection...instead most of the day before, the wedding day and day after were spent at labs and doctor's offices... but a friend sent me this...

An Ulster Weavers tea towel for the Royal wedding. So sweet! So, I had planned a wedding tea post, but...so my teacup for today is... a Tea Cup! A large breakfast sized one from Roy Kirkham...I wanted to use a blue and white for Memorial Day too...
so...

I love the blue and white design with the teapots and teacups...and a Grande amount of  12-14 ounces too!
Roy Kirkham makes lovely quality bone china in the UK...so glad they are there!

But now...to commemorate Memorial Day...

I just want to thank all who have served over the years. Who gave so much to guarantee we can live in a free country.
These are antique postcards for Memorial Day.

Memorial Day 1890s California Civil War Veterans

World War I

This dates to around the 1930s. The sentiment reads:
That we might enjoy liberty in a United Republic
Those bodies whose bodies lie buried here have died.
Their devotion to Country and Posterity
was a noble sacrifice.

And an Eleanor Clapsaddle design from 1904:
Nor shall their story be forgot
While fame her record keeps

My heartfelt thanks to each one,
and may God Bless you.

  5. Welcome back, Ruth! Glad to hear that your hubby is on the mend. The royal wedding tea towel is so pretty! I didn't attend any royal wedding tea parties as I was visiting my brother in Calgary. I love the giant blue and white Roy Kirkham mug. Sometimes you need a HUGE cup of tea to get through the day! Thank you for hosting and enjoy the last few days of May.

  9. Hello Ruth,
I'm glad to hear that your husband is doing better now. :) So nice of your friend to send you the Royal wedding tea towel! Very pretty!!! I have a Roy Kirkham teacup with me here in our fifth-wheel that I found at HomeGoods maybe five years ago now ~ it gets used almost everyday. Love yours with TEA written on it! Mine has a Redouté pink rose on both sides of it. It's pretty much my favorite... :) Sharing two Royal Wedding Week posts with you all since Tuesday Cuppa had to be postponed. Thought everyone would enjoy.

    Happy Tuesday to you,
    Barb :)

p.s. Tweeted and will be pinning as I run around reading. <3
