Tuesday Cuppa Tea...MIA...Summer intervening...Kids, Visiting

I just wanted to let you know, my dear and patient blogging friends and participamts in Tuesday Cuppa Tea....

that I won't be posting for a bit. Got a call yesterday from my out-of-state son and daughter-in-law for my birthday (39 again!) and they are coming today...we are off to pick them up after church. So have been scurrying around getting things ready!  They will be here for over a week, and we will be doing lots (we call our son the Tour Director) so I don't think I will have much blogging time. We plan some local trips around the Peninsula....

my daughter-in-law wants to pick some lavender at one of our local Sequim lavender farms,

we'll be heading for the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park in the far West End of the Olympic Peninsula...which last month broke a rainfall record...the least rain for July since 1899...still more than most areas of the country get in 3 months....

and spending time at Salt Creek Recreation area, part of the Washington State Park system  just West of Port Angeles. That's what we know about, because that's what they have asked to do.  Plus...whatever occurs.

So have a wonderful couple of weeks...I know we will, and I'll be back on when I can. It hopefully will also give my hand/arm the final time away to complete some healing as well. So two birds with one stone...

Tuesday Cuppa Tea...short but I'm here!

Hello my dear friends! I am attempting a short Tuesday Cuppa Tea post...seeing how the wrist/arm holds up.

I posted on the last post that I ham trying an ergonomic mouse. I am also having to retrain my typing.....that's a bit difficult as well...but...basically doing well!

This is a pretty teacup I found recently at an estate sale that I really liked. The English bone china teacup has a wonderful art deco shape...look at the pointy handle! So typically 1930s. The design is so pretty as well...and I am not usually a fan of yellow, but really like this color combination. The rust leaves are a good foil for the yellow rose....

The maker is English Castle, which was a bit of a puzzle and took some research. There have been loads of potteries in the Staffordshire area of England, which is generically, and affectionately referred to as The Potteries. Many potteries had relatively short lives, as so left little record of their existence. After quite a bit of digging I found out that English Castle was only around from 1908 to 1939. It closed at the time of the 2nd World War.

On the mark, the number indicates the pattern number, and after the slash the colorway...so this pattern was made in more than one color.  So...there you go! They obviously made wonderful items...would love to know why they closed, but....

As of course you know...how could you not...that Prince William and Kate now have their baby...HRH George Alexander Louis Cambridge.  The baby was offically registered last week...here is a copy of the registry certificate...

The registry was signed William. The new prince is now 3rd in the succession to the throne and mother and baby are doing well.

Okay....that's all I can do today...my hand is acting up a bit. Thanks for your patience and kind emails and comments. I am visiting your wonderful blog posts but can't always comment, for which I apologize!  Here is the linky, but I may not be able to answer your comments. Have a great week!

Progress Report....

Hello my dear friends....just checking in to let you know progress on my carpal tunnel attack. Resting has been a help....not resting really, but being off the computer as much as possible...but a little resting as well....

A tea break and an apricot scone...perfect.

I have spent more time reading as well, which is always a joy.  But...I do have a business, that augments our social security.  Antiques And Teacups, and Antiques And Teacups At Etsy are a necessity as well as usually a pleasure, except for during this wrist/arm incident, so I have been doing as much as possible on the websites by using my laptop because it has a different hand/arm position.

I looked for mouse alternatives, and found this ergonomic mouse to try.... Instead of your hand resting horizontally on the mouse, it is more vertical, like shaking hands.

It has been an adjustment, but seems to be helping...time will tell. I have ordered another hand held mouse, but that won't be here for a couple of weeks.

I want to just thank so many of you for your kind emails & comments...it has been a sorrow to just read posts but not comment. My doctor said avoid typing as much as possible, so my computer time has been spent on processing orders instead of the more fun stuff. BUT improvement is slowly coming, so that's good.    So...I am visiting and loving your posts...as usual, you clever ladies! And hope to back posting more soon!
